G2 or S40 or S30?

G2 or S40 or S30?

Hi all,

I'm brand new to the digital camera scene and am in the middle of researching what to get. I'm pretty much sold on the Canon brand. But now I can't figure out which one to get!

I'm not an avid photographer, I just like to have a quality camera to take good pictures for me when I go on trips and such. For that reason I'm leaning towards the S models over the G2. In terms of pixels, I don't really know what I need. Can anyone clue me in as to how much of a difference 4 megapixels vs 3 is? The S30 is quite a bit cheaper than the S40, but I don't want to spend less money on something I'm not going to be satisfied with.

Or do I go with the G2? It seems like a camera I could really grow into and appreciate it more as I learn more about photography. Although, deep down, I'm probably not going to spend my free time fiddling with this stuff. Would I be wasting my money by paying up got the G2?
