8800 - Photographing Ice hockey (Indoor Arena)
Aug 5, 2006

Hi,

Firstly I apologise if this is not the right place for this thread, I am new to the forum.

I have been trying to photograph Ice Hockey games in an indoor arena with the usual arena flourescent lighting, and have had problems with the settings on my camera. If the shutter speed is fast enough to catch the subject clearly, the photos are far too dark, and if enough light is let in to produce a normal-coloured image, the subject is blurred due to the speed it is travelling. I have been told by Jessops that the only thing I can do is adjust the photos on Photoshop, but surely there must be ideal settings for these conditions, I just can't for the life of me find them!! I used to use a Kodak DX6490, and that worked perfectly, but I don't know what the settings were on it as I used pre-programmed Scene settings (the 8800 is my first "proper" camera).

Can anyone give me any advice/list apature/shutter speeds to try?

Thank you,
Sarah
