70-300M availability in UK

I happened to be in Jessops yesterday in Reading as my wife wanted to look at the new Sony Alpha and they had them in .. She prefers the 30D
I asked if they had any news on the 70-300 .. He said Jessops had just under 1000 of them on order however had NO visibility on delivery ... I have an order for one with Bristol Cameras and they also have no idea on delivery.. Whats any one else hearing ?
