Lens for safari?
Jun 21, 2006

Ok...I could use a little help and advice here...Apparently my lovely wife has decided that we're going on a safari in Africa next year (I just go where I'm told when I'm told!)...

Most of my lenses are geared towards portrait and wedding work. I currently have the 70-200vr as my longest lens.

Here is where I'm trying to get some thoughts. My options are:

1) Use a tc17 with the 70-200...

2) Get a 300 f4 and use either a tc14 or tc17 when warranted...(thought about the 2.8 version but it's close to the 200-400vr price)...

3) Get a 80-400vr (I've played around with one and they seem to focus very slowly).

4) Go over the edge and get the 200-400vr (whew...big money)...

Thoughts? Advice? All really appreciated!!!

Derek
