Considering 17-55, but Dust problem?

Hello All,

I have finally narrowed down the lens--I think--to the 17-55 due to the superior reviews. However, I had read on one post that due to the design of the lens with its extension, it sucks in a lot of dust. Is this a real problem and would the better sealants on the L glass prevent this issue?
