18-200 VR lens noise?

I recently purchased a D200 with the AF-S 18-200 VR lens. I really like this combo, and I recommend to anyone looking for a new DSLR.
I have a question for anyone in the forum that has the same setup.
I have noticed that with the VR feature turned on, that when the shutter is pressed slightly to enable the autofocus and VR, that the lens makes a slight clunking noise. When the shutter is released, the lens makes another clunking noise. I assume that this is the VR mechanism doing its business as it does not make the noise with VR turned off, but I had not noticed the sound until this week. The focus and stabilization seems to work fine.
Could I ask that if you have a D200 with this lens if you could see if your lens makes a noise as well when the shutter is pressed.
thanks in advance
