24-105 F4 vs 100 F2

Dear listmembers,

I have a 24-105 with my 5D. Does buying the 100mm F2 add quality for portrets (besides the less weight and larger aperture)? Does the fact that the latter is a prime lens make it a better lens than the 24-105 @100 mm?
