Olympus helped save my life!
Jun 1, 2006

There are a number of reasons why I chose to go with Olympus when I made the digital switch. One of the big reasons was my sense that Olympus is an innovative company that isn't content to linger in the 'status quo'. Another was my appreciation of Olympus' expertise in the area of optical technology. But what I wasn't aware of until this morning was that those qualities have impacted my life in a major way when I underwent surgery last year for prostate cancer. My surgery was performed using a 'state of the art' robotic surgical device called the "da Vinci Surgical System". This system allows a highly trained surgeon to operate on you while sitting at a console using a video monitor. As it turns out, Olympus developed and produces the 3-D imaging system used in the da Vinci system to allow the surgeon to perform very critical and precise surgical manuvers using the da Vinci 'robot'. Praise the Lord, my surgery was very successful and I am cancer free over a year later. Thanks Oly!

More 'on topic' is the Olympus site where I learned this -- while reading about the very interesting history of Olympus cameras. If your not aware of all of the many camera innovations and 'firsts' Olympus is responsible for, go to this site: http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/corc/history/index.cfm?ote=1

This is some very interesting reading for us Olympus fans.

God Bless,
Greg
