First A2 image post and nice to be home again!
Apr 30, 2006

The A2 I found new in box the other day is alive and shooting well. I like it, perhaps more than my A1, I dunno yet. It won't do all my 7D will, but then again, the A2 does some things the 7D would choke on too.

This image was shot in my backyard today. It is a blossom from one of our citrus trees. It may be one of those occasions that would have been more difficult with the 7D. The light weight of the A2 allowed me to handle the camera w/one hand and with the free hand place my fingers into the shot to give it a sense of scale/perspective here. It would have been more difficult to do this w/much heavier 7D, especially considering the short dof the 7D offers. I shot this with a small sensor camera @ f/9.0 and there was not much dof to hold on to.

If shot with my 7D the dof would have been a larger problem. For me, the A2 is much more of a "do it all" package then just about anything out there, even today's offerings. Certainly the 7D is faster in all areas. Smoother when using 200-3200 ISO's too. But the 7D is my "Special duty" camera and it does it well, whereas the A2 will ride alongside me in the Z all of the time. This is especially so now that my wife has laid claim to the A1 for herself!
Regards, Jim
