Fastest CF for A2 to replace Microdrive 4GB?
Apr 16, 2006

I've been using Hitachi Microdrive 4GB ever since my A2 for 1.5 years. Now sometimes the card starts to clicking and displaying "Card Error" especially if I use it for fast/multiple shooting.

Now I'm looking for the replacement (4GB or 2x2GB) and prefer to have fast(est) CF card, including to utilize unlimited RAW shots of 1.14e firmware (which now I still can't get it right, limited to 3 shots).

Amongst these brands/models, which do you think the best & fastest? And of course compatible with A2 with 1.14e firmware.

  • SanDisk Extreme III (speed 20MB/s)

  • Lexar Pro (speed 133x = 20MB/s)

  • Kingston Ultimate (speed 100x = 15MB/s)

  • Transcend (speed 120x = 18MB/s)

All for single 4GB or 2x2GB capacity. I understand that the numbers tell the theoretical transfer speed. But I need it in real life, not just the writing.

About the price I see all are similar, around $200 for single 4GB.

Though this afternoon, I had a good bargain for Transcend for 2/3 of that price. I didn't buy it because I need your suggestions first.
