Architecture with 1.6x crop cameras

I have been getting some jobs in the architecture area, shooting interiors, bathrooms and stuff, struggling to get a decent composition with my 17-40mm.
17mm is not even 24mm on my 10D. Distortions hurt badly too.
I am considering a Sigma 10-20mm over Tokina 12-24mm because of the extra 2 mm.

I don't see me buying a 30D so soon, so the Canon 10-22mm, that would be the best choice, has to wait a little more.

Perhaps I am just gonna struggle with the 17-40mm until I can afford a 30D + 10-22mm.
Any opinions?
