e300 versus e500
Apr 12, 2006

I'm looking to get a DSLR and I'm particularly interested in Olympus' offerings. I'm a student (Sixth Form at the moment, shortly University) and so resources are quite tight. Basically, I want to know what the major disadvantages are of the e300 compared to the e500 (and any advantages it has). For example:

  • What are the differences with the viewfinders?

  • How much practical difference does the larger LCD on the e500 have?

  • What about weight?

Any information about the metering, continous shooting, handling and any other spec differences between the cameras would be most appreciated. I'm also likely to be travelling in Europe this summer, so I would appreciate any insights concerning their relative merits for this.

I've seen the twin (14-45 and 40-150) lens deals at various (online shops); £444 was the cheapest for the e300 (Pixmania) and £575 for the e500 (I forget where). Does anyone know of any better deals than these?

Thanks very much in advance for your help, and I hope I will be using this forum more frequently soon :).
