5D oil smear on sensor

I resently cleaned the sensor on my 5D with my new visableDust brush and followed the directions carefully that were posted on visableDust's web site. I found to my horror after cleaning the sensor that there were oil smears on the chip. I packed the camera up and sent it to Canon for a cleaning. VisableDust's web site has a clear warning of this problem occuring on the 5D and other canon cameras. Has anyone dealt with this problem? Is there a way to clean the sensor without sending it back to Canon?
