Nikkor 35 f/2 vs. 18-200 comparison images

Since people are quite interested in the 18-200, I've posted a couple comparison shots of my 35/2 and 18-200 lenses, both at 35mm and f/4 (f/4.2 for the 18-200, actually). Fairly ordinary subject (bookshelf) and hardly great lighting, but a good illustration of the quirky nature of the 18-200: in this sample it's sharper than the 35 in the center, but much worse at the corners. In my other test shots (not posted) the 18-200 gets sharper through f/5.6 and f/8 and seems optimal from f/8 to f/11.
Hopefully this is a helpful example of exactly what people talk about when they say the 18-200 is soft at the corners and wider apertures.
