Superzoom SLR lenses vs Megazoom digicams

Every time somebody asks about the quality of an 18-200 or 28-300 lens for traveling or walking around, the answer is that it can't compare to a quality lens that covers a specific, narrower range. Considering the compromises these superzoom lenses must make, I have often wondered if they actually produce images that are any better than those from a good megazoom digicam like the Panasonic FZ5 or Canon S2 IS.

Has anybody ever posted a side-by-side comparison between these two options - a Tamron or Sigma superzoom lens vs a megazoom digicam? It would be interesting to see the difference.
