Nec 1980fxi calibrate Gretag eye-one

I have been looking at the NEC 1980fxi monitor -
so far after my reading it seems like a capable monitor for photography -

But i read that you cant calibrate it with a spyder -you need some extra software ??

I have GRETAG eye- one display 2 and would like to find out if i can calibrate the NEC 1980fxi with the GRETAG eye-one display 2

Just buy the NEC and plug in the gretag and its calibrated..
