Sports Photography help!
Jan 20, 2006

Hey gang,

I am going to the Steeler/Bronce game this weekend and am going to be taking pictures. I will be using a D200 and a 70-200VR lens and 1.4 teleconverter along with the MB-D200.

My question is (since this is going to be my 1st attemt at shooting sports with this camera and lens) is if you were me, what settings would you use for the camera. This is once in a lifetime game for me so I need the pictures to come out right. As you can tell I am a novice who just happens to own good equipment. Always looking to get better...hence the need for advice on everything.

I'm looking for the following suggestions.

ISO/Apature
Shutter speed
Picure size (large, fine Raw etc...)
Image Optimazition (normal, softer, vivid etc..)

And any other setting you think I should use.

I am going to try and take in a monopod if possible but it's 50/50 with security. I will be filming before the game taking pictures of the players; very few if any will be taken during the game. I will be down by the field while taking these pictures.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Randy
