Too many windows!!

For some reason when I open a folder and then a folder inside that folder the new folder opens in a seperate window each time, this leads to too many folders opened at once... I have tried tools/folder options/ open in same window then apply settings but nothing happens, I still get each opened folder on screen... It has only just started to happen....It's a nuisance...any ideas how I can alter this to open each folder in original window... Thanks in advance...

If I have uploaded an image don't hesitate to de-noise it, correct the WB, clone out dust and dead pixels, saturation, USM, resize, print and send me the result..
Also advice and criticise.
