85mm f/1.8 other than sports....

I'm going to purchase this lens today from B&H. I will use it mostly for indoor sports pictures were gym lighting requires me to have a fast lens. I shoot with a Canon 20D. Reading several posts from this site it appears that this is a good lens for those of us who cannot arrord the 70-200 f/2.8.

Just was wondering is this also a good lens to use for portrait shots in studio of head/shoulders and etc...

My current lenses are 100Macro 2.8, 50mm 1.8, 70-200 4L, 100-400 4.5-5.6. Thanks for all your adviced and time.
