Lens other than 70-210 2.8

Looking for lens to compliment 17-55?

Really do not need anything longer than 105 or at most 135.
Have tried Tamron SP 24-135 sharp at f8, but limits use.

Also tried Tamron 28-105 2.8 SP but found it had trouble auto focusing at a distance when zoomed to 105. Zoom barrel was also a bit loose.
