Printer Repair

Hello, I have been given an epson 1270 that seems to be faulty and was wondering if anyone can help.
It starts printing fine but then at a random point it will will just stop and a "communication error" box pops up. I can't for the life of me figure out why this happens, I've tried all the different settings with no joy. I've also checked the cable for faults or poor connection.
Has anyone got any ideas how to fix this problem? If not can anyone recomend a printer repairer, I live in the UK, near London?
