Is a lens calibrated for a particular camera?
Jan 3, 2006

I currently have a Digital Rebel (300d). I plan on waiting for the 20d replacement announcement in February, then either get the replacement or a Digital Rebel XT. Also, I'd like to buy a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens, and I'm aware that it might need to be sent in to Sigma for calibration (due to some QC issues).

Here's my question: should I wait till I have the new camera before buying the Sigma lens, so if I have to send it in it is calibrated correctly for that particular camera? Or does that not really matter?

In other words, if a lens is calibrated for a particular camera, I'll have to hold off on buying the Sigma. If it is just calibrated in general, I can buy it now.

So, should I buy the Sigma lens now? or hold off?
