Why Not Pentax?

I'm seriously not trying to start any brand-bashing here, but have a legitimate question.

Before I bought my first dSLR this summer, I did a lot of reading online to compare the E300, the D70, and the Pentax DS. Since I didn't already own any glass, or have any experience with any of the big three, I was free from any obligations or preconceived notions. I ended up choosing the Pentax DS and have really enjoyed it. My question is for those of who have looked at the DS and chose otherwise. What was it about the DS that held you back from it?

I ask this because I want to make sure I'm not missing anything important that you more-experienced experts might be aware of.
