UV filters

Searched through threads here regarding filters and protecting lenses. I've always placed UV filters on my lenses with both my digicams and SLRs. Have always used Hoya (HMC or Super HMC Pro 1). Noticed that several people seem to prefer B + W. Am planning on purchasing filters for my kit lenses. Interested in knowing if one (Hoya vs BW) might be better than another. Would consider giving B + W a try. Too bad that the filters I have are too small for the kit lenses.
