I'm quite happy with the current market. The one thing I have learned from my editorial mentors is to keep my overhead low.

The very very very short story of the last 2 years of my life is I left my day job at Kinko's exactly 2 years ago this month. I had a D100 body and a flash. That was about it. No glass. Not even a CF card. I left on faith. I haven't had a "day job" since.

I have had to hustle quite a bit but 2 years later my wife now stays home full time and I have a small studio. Uncle Bob with a 20D is not who I worry about. I worry about the Bob who is about 30 years old with 2 kids and a wife and an undying love for the image. He's going to be the one who can make the hustle.

If you hustle and work hard and find a niche, you can still do quite well.
