what's wrong!?!? 70-200 2.8L

Hello everyone, I recently bought this lens and I've been wondering what was missing on the pictures taken with this lens, so I decided to go ahead and do a simple comparison test with my 17-85mm, and found out what was missing was contrast please take a look at the pictures and let me know If i'm the one with issues, this is my first lens of this caliber,FYI: these shots where taken with a 20D mounted on a tripod. thanks for your inputs beforehand.
