S70 or S2 IS
Aug 17, 2005

I am about to dip my toe in to digital photography so any help appreciated.

I own a Canon Eos 300 film camera with 28-200 zoom lens so when I have the bucks will think about a 20D, tried the 350D but found it too small. Obviously 1000 GBP is a lot of outlay so I to want try out digital photography and post processing before making the big leap to a DSLR. I have narrowed the choice to either a S70 or S2 IS although I gather from this forum that the S70 is due to be replaced. My main photogray is landscape and travel photography.

the S70 is
cheaper than S2, more pixels, RAW format, comapct but less zoom range & no IS.

the S2 is
has IS, greater zoom, but less pixels and not RAW format.

Can I ask
What is the time-line for the new S70?

Does not having RAW format limit what I can do post processing?

Any comments greatly appreciated
