Thank you digi-dork,

Those are amazing pics... very familiar and brought back memories
of a bike trip I did through there a few years back (I'm also a
bike-dork, but was not a Canon user then). Pretty wild to be
riding along next to and passing a horse and buggy.

Hmmm, I do know some friends who like to bike ride but never refered to them as bike-dorks

I don't believe that those bikes belong to the kids standing beside
them (one is too small anyway). The elders do not allow the kids
to have bikes because they can travel too far from home (so I've
been told) . So you might consider cropping.

Those bikes most likely belonged to the Amish men at the horse auction where the boys were waiting around So if the young ones can't have bikes how do they learn to ride a bike?

Did you catch any kids on scooters? These seemed to be a common
mode of transportation for the kids (along with walking). I do
recall seeing one Amish woman in a long dress rollerblading on a
rough road; she didn't look very happy.

I did see an old Amish lady on a scooter going home from the general store. And a few Amish young ladies on bikes...

You're right that the Amish do not like to have their photos taken
("graven images"), but seemed to be tolerant of tourists, though
not very open though.

Did you photograph any of the nice covered bridges in the area?

We saw one white covered bridge as we drove around the area but where I am from, Eastern Pa., we have lots of red covered bridges which some day I may go photograpy ....

Thanks for your comments and for looking and keep on biking
