Rechargeable Batteries Question

I just purchased a Canon Powershot A95, only had it for a couple days, and the batteries it came with are already dead.
I was curious if the canon CBK-200 is really worth the $40+

Is there a better deal out there for a rechargeable battery system?

College student on a tight budget I have one from CompUSA that I got for free but as most free things... I don't really trust them enough, so i haven't put them in the camera.

I am also a bit sketchy as to the differences between certain types of AA batteris. The A95 requires 4AA's, So if there is a well priced, decent quality 8 place battery recharger system that you may suggest, please do.
