12-24 vs. stitching
May 20, 2005

Why spend $500 (or more) on a 12-24 lens when you can stitch two shots taken at 18 mm together with software? Unless you're trying to capture a frame with moving things, or if the exposure requirements of the two "sides" are very different and you don't want to manually expose, is there a significant advantage?

I enjoy shooting landscapes, but every time I think maybe it'd be worth saving for a 12-24, I come back to the fact that I have stitch software that costs nothing.

Why a $500 12-24?
