Dell UltraSharp 19" LCD monitor . . . . . . .

Several people indicated they had ordered this monitor as a result of this thread getting the 30% discount . . I did the same . . . . . . the monitor arrived and works fine . . but once I've set the gamma (manually) using Adobe's gamma software and also PaintShop Pros' method . . . . . . my screen white is far to bright, is tough on my eyes . . and is only softened enough (for me) by reducing the contrast . and of course this throws of the gamma setting . . . anyone else find the same? . . and if so, were you able to overcome? . . . . The relationship between a printed picture and the monitor is not exact, but very close as far as brightness is concerned, hence I don't see how even a commercial calibrator would fix this for me. . . am I wrong on that?

I did not have the same problem with my 1999 Dell CRT that I replaced

I would appreciate any comments . . thanks . . Lew
