New 100-400L dust problem
Apr 2, 2005

Please can anyone advise on this problem? I know this issue has been done to death recently but I would like some feedback based on my experience with a clean DSLR.

I took a photo of the sky at 365mm f/7.1 1/400 ISO 100 which showed no dust on the sensor.

Throughout the day I set the tension ring to tight and slowly set the zoom to the required length in order to minimise the alleged risk of dust ingress.

Therefore I was surprised that after 27 photos dust had not only appeared in the viewfinder but on the sensor with a large blob in the top right corner of the image, 400mm f/7.1 1/400 ISO 100.

I hope this lens doesn't mean frequent use of Sensor Swabs and Eclipse.

Many thanks,
