Sigma 18-50 or Canon 17-85 help please
Mar 26, 2005

Hi new to photography, just bought a Canon 350d with 18-55 3.5-5.6 Canon EFS Lens which came as a package.

I would like to change the lens for a better quality one, which has a similar focal range.

The lens will be used for indoor group shots and also as my everyday outdoor lens (basically stays on the camera where ever the camera goes the lens goes).

I would like the lens to be a good in low light so I don’t have to use the flash but also have a good sharp picture.

Which lens would you advise?

I’ve been looking at the Sigma 18-50 2.8, Sigma 24-60 2.8, Sigma 24-70 2.8. and Canon 17-85 4-5.6

Are Sigma lenses good, or is it best to stick to Canon.
Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Assad
