Measuring color temperature.

I need to measure the color temperature of light from battery operated flash units like the Nikon SB-800 or the 550EX Canon. Will a Minolta Colormeter II give me a Kelvin readout? I am testing different diffuser materials and want to know their effect on the color temperature from the flash. I haven't been able to learn much about the Colormeter II.
