problems with the wasia hack

I just got 420ex and I realize that the green light in the back is stuck at 50 mm - no matther what the zoom is of the lens....also please forgive my ignorance as I may not be using the proper terminology - I suspect that this problem may be due to the hack.
Furthermore - I just remember reading that when going back to the original firmware - certain changes have to be made in the custom functions - is this true??
