A2: Lost detail in grass

Hi all,
I upgraded from a 7i to an A2 six weeks ago and took roughly 1200 photos. In general I am very happy with the improved image quality: the A2 is much less noisy, which was quite annoying at my 7i.
But there is one thing that I do not like: in landscape pictures there is very little detail present in things like grass or trees in the distance. What is left is a sort of smear of green.
It happens both with Jpeg and Raw images -so it should not be caused by some noise reduction.
The following photo shows the problem:

I did not see this with my 7i.
Am I looking for detail that the A2 can not resolve?
