E-300 - too much contrast?
Feb 4, 2005

I'm just a beginner in photography and I have a question about the Olympus E-300 camera model. Maybe it's a bit strange, but I'd very much like to know what you think.

I was looking at some of the photo samples of this camera and I noticed that there is a big contrast between areas that are in direct sun light, and areas that are not in any sun light at all. For example, areas that are not illuminated directly by the sun are very very dark - maybe much darker than they should be, in relation with the ones that are illuminated. Basically, the contrast between these areas is too high , looking somehow un-natural, I would say.

Do you think so as well, or is it just me? Are there any settings on the camera that would allow the photographer to better control this balance?

Below you can find the photos that I had in mind when I made these observations.
