Yeah, but it's 'only' 500mm ...

... I've carried one around for many miles, and I rarely took the 1.4x converter off of it ... so I'll just carry a few pounds more with the 600! I think it will be worth it ... but I'll get a 400/5.6 as well.
Expensive, but I'm only gonna buy one!

400/5.6 prime, as 95% of my 100-400L shots are at that focal
length. I'll miss the IS, and I'm sure I'll miss the zoom, but I
want max resolution, so I'll make the trade. Next is the 600/4 ...
it has IS or I wouldn't buy it

why not the 500mm f4? it is much lighter than the 600mm no?

Does anyone own both ? I curently have a Bigma that I need to use a
monopod at all times since I hurt my left shoulder. In about 3
weeks I will have enough for a 100-400L and about $300 extra. Would
it be worth it to get the 100-400 L and sell my Bigma and get the
400 5.6 too ?
Or maybe just get the 400 5.6 and keep the Bigma ,but I like the
Idea of the lighter 100-400 and IS.
