20D corrupts files on CF card
Jan 9, 2005

It appears that I'm constantly loosing some of my shots. After some experimenting I found out my CF card still has some data on it while it shows 'No Image' on the LCD. Sometimes I noticed a white image, with a question mark in it, that dissapeared again.

After running a diskcheck under XP (with a USB cardreader, forcing autorepair and scanning for bad sectors), I found a number of FILEnnnn.CHK files in a separate folder on the card. After renaming these to JPG's the images were all there and not in any way corrupted.

I've scanned this forum but it does not appear to be a known problem.

This card has never failed in other camera's. I also don't have any other card of sufficient size to check if it's a problem between the 20D and this particular card (Kobishi 192MB).

I could (and want to) buy a new and bigger card but where I live only old slow cards are available at premium prices (one extreme example is a 30x 1GB for over €500. Yikes!).

Anyone with similar troubles here?
