Should we have a little fun and vote for the "Grand Poobah" of Lens
Buyers Anonymous?
Criteria could include:
1) Sheer number of lenses.
2) Obscurity of lenses in conjuction with sheer number
3) Cost of the lenses, ie 3 x lenses @ US$1,000 is more of a Poobah
than 5 @ US$500.
4) How many of the same lens thay have. I'm thinking of you Brett
and your 3 x 135mm's AND the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 AND the Penatx F
70-210 covering the 135mm section for a total of 5 lenses covering
135mm.
5) Should we keep it to just Pentax lenses or should we have a
different Poobah for the most Pentax lenses?
Any other criteria that anyone can think of?
Anyone interested in a bit of fun?
We could also have rates of Poobahedness, ie Grand Poobah, Chief
Poobah and so on down the line.
I think voting would have to be done by a panel or by all members
like we do for the Pentax challenge.
Just a bit of fun to lighten up the forum and to give people a
reason to go and buy lenses...as if they needed an incentive!

I'm totally for this!! I think we should elect one ├╝ber-great-grand
Poobah according to each of the four first criterias. Maybe two for
each, one strictly Pentax and one for Pentax and third-party.

Maybe we should add a title for the person with the severest desire
to buy lenses, regardless of actual amount owned. Or... Maybe not,
that would be impossible to choose!!

If nothing else, I want my LBA membership number!

Now there's a good idea, Matts. A membership number for all
concerned. A numbering system based on the amount of lenses you
have, ie if your number is in the 10,000+ series you are of the
highest order. If you are just in the 1,000-10,000 you are quite
sick. If you are in the 100-1,000 then you need a bit more help in
acquiring lenses. 0-100, well what can I say, you've either just
bought your first camera or you shouldn't even be on this forum.

Ah, I may have been misunderstood with regards to the number of
lenses people needed to have. What I meant to say about the
numbering system was this:
If we GAVE you a number in the 10,000 series then you are of the
highest order. I mean possibly my name would be Lance-10,027 which
would mean I am in the group of the highest order. I may "only"
have 10 lenses but I maybe put in the highest order. Someone else
maybe Fred-1,007 meaning they are in the second order.
Maybe I should have said we put people into "A" category, "B"
category and "C" category etc. This would mean I may possibly be
Lance-A27 and someone else maybe Fred-B7 etc.
If anyone mistook that I meant for anyone to have 10,000+ lenses
then I am sorry that I did not make myself clear. If anyone did
have 10,000+ lenses they REALLY need to have their head read. Now
that would be an obsession and sickness!

Well, since I seem to be the only one who didn't get it, maybe I need to have my head read for that! But the numbering scheme is good, better than a Brittish roadsign.

Hmmm... Tough ratings, won't be many true members in LBA going by
this! LOL Maybe we should make it a tad easier to be a member.
After all, personally I don't believe it's the actual amount of
lenses owned that decides if you need(?) LBA or not, it's have bad
you want them and how big the itch to get them is. It's that
craving, you know?

Good point, Matts. Don't know how we would judge that as I'm so
itchy my skin is red raw!

I know what you mean and unfortunately I don't have any solution
for it either... I guess we'll have to stick to actual amount of
lenses, although rating the membership number on something else
than something like 1000+ lenses!

Do you know of any good ointment for lens rash?!?
