Indeed, using physical mem is better than using virtual mem(HD),
but how about those ppl with only less memory, let say 96MB? They
will hear their HD read/write all the time. It may not be that bad
since memory price is so low now

I think if one has an old box, it is not useful to put the latest OS like XP on it. It is just quite slow and needs to swap applications on disk all the time. My test box is Celeron 400 with 128 megs of RAM and I think this is minimum. Plain OS works fine, but launching apps (even Calculator, Notepad etc), properties etc is noticable slower than on 9x platform. XP like Win2000 is slower (to launch applications) but more reliable than 9x.
