Flash more powerful than a SB800...
Aug 25, 2004

People said that when you have kids you will look at the world through their eyes and see the same old things in a new way. I didn't understand that until we had ours...

Last night we had a storm pass through town with some pretty spectacular lightning happening. My 6 year old said the lightning was neat but wished it could be slowed down so he could see it better.

So I decided to try and get a shot of a lightning strike.

Lesson #1: By the time you see the lightning, it is too late to press the shutter.

Lesson #2: The lightning will not be in the direction you are looking in. Generally 90 degrees off or worse.

Lesson #3: 8 seconds is a long time to stay still

Lesson #4: If you're determined enough (or foolish enough to not know any better) you just might get lucky......
