No, it's not an invitation for you to critically savage one another, but some encouragement to practise your technique. As winter draws in (for some of us), and the light gets worse, panning lets you use low ISOs and still get a good picture - it should also level the playing field for compact camera owners. So get out there and shoot something fast (or make it look fast).
