500mm manual everything lenses

Challenge #1 in the Inexpensive Equipment series. Hosted by W Steffey.

500mm manual lenses in universal "T" mounts have been manufactured unchanged for decades and sold under many 3rd. party names. They are cheap, { I bought one new outside Da Nang in 1969 for $4.00, and I bought a used one recently for 99 cents on Ebay), but can produce decent photos under good conditions. While good superzooms have far greater reach, and images from expensive shorter lenses on expensive cameras might be cropped enough to rival those from these lenses, they still remain the only cheap options for SLR owners.

Not a winning natural history shot but not bad for the lens. Has lots of CA (processed out) and generally quite soft.
