Moss

Challenge #84 in the Life in the Natural World series. Hosted by RuthC.
Challenge has finished
In this challenge, show us interesting and beautiful mosses; the beauty and details found in their textures, and colours. These are some of the very earliest plant-life of the ancient world, and there are known to be at least 12,000 species. The mosses should be outside in their natural environment. Macro and close-up photos are welcome. (Lichens, which have different botanical structures have had their own challenge several weeks ago.) The plant called Spanish moss is NOT a species of moss, so would be DQ'd. Refer to Wikipedia for more information about mosses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moss SIZE: 1,600px MAXIMUM.
