A Place to Call Home

Challenge #66 in the Life in the Natural World series. Hosted by RuthC.
Challenge has finished
In this challenge, show us the interesting places where insects, spiders or other arthropods make their homes, perhaps to stay protected and dry from the weather, or where they raise their young. Think bee hives, wasps' nests, ants' nests, insects or spiders who have woven leaves together to protect themselves against the world. (Note: The well-known and much-photographed aerial webs of spiders are NOT usually where they live, but are often built daily, and are their means of catching prey, so won't be accepted in this challenge.) Macro and close-up shots welcome, and should be outside in the natural environment. MAXIMUM SIZE 1,600px.
