Images taken in the following countries are ok: Kazakhstan; Uzbekistan; Turkmenistan, Tajikistan; Kyrgyzstan; Afghanistan. All types of images are fine: Nature, portraits, buildings, etc.. Because this challenge is open to entries taken in several different countries, the title or description MUST be in the following general form: Country, city/town, plus (ideally) the specific location. [Ex: "Afghanistan, Kabul. Small girl playing doll" or "Kyrgyzstan, Lake Issyk-Kul, fishermen at dawn."] NOTE: I have no idea how many DP members have been to any of these countries. This particular challenge will be withdrawn if there are fewer than 5 valid entries. As usual for my challenges, Entrants are required to (1) vote for each other entry, (2) read the comments (if any) below this challenge, in case I or other entrants post with Rules questions or clarifications, and (3) follow each of the challenge rules...including voting WITHIN THE FIRST SIX DAYS of the challenge.

Khiva is a city of approximately 50,000 people located in Xorazm Province, Uzbekistan. It is the former capital of Khwarezmia and the Khanate of Khiva. Itchan Kala in Khiva was the first site in Uzbekistan to be inscribed in the World Heritage List (1991). Present-day crenellated walls date back to the late 17th century and attain the height of 10 meters.
