Images taken in the following countries are ok: Kazakhstan; Uzbekistan; Turkmenistan, Tajikistan; Kyrgyzstan; Afghanistan. All types of images are fine: Nature, portraits, buildings, etc.. Because this challenge is open to entries taken in several different countries, the title or description MUST be in the following general form: Country, city/town, plus (ideally) the specific location. [Ex: "Afghanistan, Kabul. Small girl playing doll" or "Kyrgyzstan, Lake Issyk-Kul, fishermen at dawn."] NOTE: I have no idea how many DP members have been to any of these countries. This particular challenge will be withdrawn if there are fewer than 5 valid entries. As usual for my challenges, Entrants are required to (1) vote for each other entry, (2) read the comments (if any) below this challenge, in case I or other entrants post with Rules questions or clarifications, and (3) follow each of the challenge rules...including voting WITHIN THE FIRST SIX DAYS of the challenge.

Zeravshan River is a river in Central Asia. Its name, "sprayer of gold" in Persian, refers to the presence of gold-bearing sands in the upper reaches of the river. It rises on the fringes of the Pamirs in Tajikistan, flowing due west for some 300 kilometres, passing Penjikent before entering Uzbekistan, where it turns west-to-north-west, flowing past Samarkand until it bends left again to the west north of Navoiy and further to the south-west, passing Bukhara before it is lost in the desert not quite reaching the Amu Darya.
