Images taken in the following countries are ok: Kazakhstan; Uzbekistan; Turkmenistan, Tajikistan; Kyrgyzstan; Afghanistan. All types of images are fine: Nature, portraits, buildings, etc.. Because this challenge is open to entries taken in several different countries, the title or description MUST be in the following general form: Country, city/town, plus (ideally) the specific location. [Ex: "Afghanistan, Kabul. Small girl playing doll" or "Kyrgyzstan, Lake Issyk-Kul, fishermen at dawn."] NOTE: I have no idea how many DP members have been to any of these countries. This particular challenge will be withdrawn if there are fewer than 5 valid entries. As usual for my challenges, Entrants are required to (1) vote for each other entry, (2) read the comments (if any) below this challenge, in case I or other entrants post with Rules questions or clarifications, and (3) follow each of the challenge rules...including voting WITHIN THE FIRST SIX DAYS of the challenge.

Iskanderkul is a mountain lake of glacial origin in Tajikistan's Sughd Province. It lies at an altitude of 2195 m on the northern slopes of the Gissar Range in the Fann Mountains. Triangular in shape, it has a surface area of 3.4 km2 and is up to 72 m deep. Claimed to be one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the former Soviet Union.
