the origin of the castle dates back to the 12th century and the final structure was completed in the 15th century. The military role was that of protecting the commerce between the regions North of the Alps and the fiefs in the fertile valley of the river Po. The family of the Avogadro, counts of Quinto, owned it from the erection to the end of world war one. It has undergone meticulous repair in 2007 by the Municipality of Vercelli who is the actual owner.

|Notes:||thanks to the compressed perspective of the tele the Alps appear to rise just behind the castle even though they are 30 miles North, thus creating a confrontation between the majesty of the Alps and the military severity of the Castle|
